This federal legislation encourages individuals, non‐profit organizations, local governments, and others to propose projects that restore watersheds decommission/maintain roads, control noxious weeds, thin tree stands, or otherwise improve the condition of the Forest. The proposed projects can be implemented both on federal and private lands and have to benefit national forest resources. This year’s funding directly supports projects such as noxious weed control, the Deschutes Children’s National Forest, youth conservation corps and forest collaboration. Projects will be implemented throughout the region but include McKay Creek, Glaze Meadow, and Suttle Lake. For more information about the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self‐Determination Act, visit www.fs.usda.gov/main/pts/home.For information on the Deschutes‐ Ochoco RAC Program,www.coic2.org/community‐development/rac/For more information on this program and the specific grant awards, please contact: Katrina Van Dis RAC Coordinator at Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council [email protected] 541‐504‐3307 LinkedInlast_img read more
