Three-year deal delights Bruce

first_img The 54-year-old took charge of the Tigers in June 2012 and led the club into the Barclays Premier League at the first time of asking before securing their top-flight status in 2014. Hull, who reached the FA Cup final under Bruce last season, are currently in a position to stay up once again and their boss appears to have been duly rewarded for his efforts. Speaking before Saturday’s league game at Leicester, he said: ” I’m delighted because I’ve enjoyed the last two-and-a-half years. This season has been difficult at times but I’ve enjoyed it. “What we’ve started here is about trying to establish ourselves as a Premier League club. “When you commit yourself to a new deal the first thing to ask is ‘do you still have the energy for it?’ Those things were going through my head. “Let’s hope we have another two-and-half years like we’ve had. “It’s a three-year contract with a year rolling – that’s the nuts and bolts of it.” Manager Steve Bruce feels energetic enough to push on with Hull after agreeing to sign a new three-year contract at the KC Stadium.center_img Press Associationlast_img read more

Indian Premier League Amit Mishra out obstructing the field in Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Eliminator clash

first_imgDelhi Capitals will be aiming to reach the IPL final for the first time.Mumbai Indians have reached the final for the fifth time.Amit Mishra became the second player after Yusuf Pathan to be out obstructing the field. New Delhi: The Eliminator clash in the 2019 Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals was heading to a tense finish. Delhi Capitals were needing two runs in three balls in the final over bowled by left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed. On the fourth ball, there was some drama. Mishra swung at a good length ball outside off from Khaleel and he missed it. The batsman set off for a bye but Mishra was running in the middle of the pitch. The wicketkeeper fired the throw to Khaleel who picked up and had a shy at the stumps. However, Mishra slightly changed his path and the ball hit his arm instead of the stumps.  The Sunrisers Hyderabad team appealed, firstly for a catch and then for obstructing the field. Replays showed that there was no edge and so Mishra survived on that count. However, after multiple replays and close looks, the third umpire decided to give Amit Mishra out obstructing the field. However, Keemo Paul held his nerve and smashed a boundary to give Delhi Capitals a tense two-wicket win and secure their first-ever win in the playoffs. In the 2013 encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sahara Pune Warriors, Yusuf Pathan was given out obstructing the field.Speaking after the end of the match, Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer praised the mental strength of the team. “I can’t express my emotions. It felt like I have been sitting and watching for years when it came to the last two years. I could see the happiness on everyone’s faces. Hoping for another one against Chennai. Looking forward to the next game. But the start they got was really good on this track. We controlled in the middle phase. Mishi pa was exceptional as he conceded only 15 runs. The other bowlers did well to bowl economically. I personally feel you can’t really control them (on Pant and Prithvi). When you stop a batsman like Pant or Prithvi, it hampers their mind and their flow. It was good that both of them came good tonight,” Iyer said.Delhi Capitals will take on Chennai Super Kings in the second qualifier as they bid to enter the IPL final for the first time. highlightslast_img read more
