The Petitioner, Advocate Puneet Kaur Dhanda has approached the Top Court stating that Saliyan’s death in June, 2020, followed by Rajput’s alleged suicide a week later, “creates suspicion”. “Both died in suspicion circumstances and at the peak of their successful professional career and as per the statements of witnesses they both were upset as some projects of them were sabotaged,” the plea states. The Petitioner has also raised questions about the suspicious circumstances under which Saliyan’s case file came to be “deleted by accident” by the Mumbai Police. It is alleged that when the Bihar Police reached out to the Mumbai Police to seek details about Saliyan’s death, so as to investigate any links between the two deaths, the Mumbai Police told the Bihar Police that the description of Disha’s case has been ‘deleted by accident’ and cannot be retrieved. It is further the case of the Petitioner that denial of access to laptop to the Bihar Police so as to retrieve the data raises more suspicion and the matter requires immediate attention. She has pleaded the Court to direct the Mumbai Police to place on record the Detailed Investigation Report of Ms. Saliyan’s case. He has also prayed for a CBI probe into both the deaths. “The petitioner wants a Fair trial in their murder case without the interference of politicians. Because for investigation of serious, sensational and organized crime under the Indian Penal Code and other laws on the requests of State Governments or on the orders of the Supreme Court and High Courts CBI Inquiry can be conducted,” the plea states. She has also sought that the Bihar Police be allowed to operate and continue investigation in Mumbai, without any interference from the local Police. The Petitioner is represented by Advocate Dr. Sushil Balwada. Notably, investigation in Rajput’s case has already been transferred to the CBI. Next Storylast_img read more

Spain’s Iberdrola moving forward with $2.7 billion, 496MW wind farm off the French coast

first_img FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享Recharge:Spain’s Iberdrola has taken a final investment decision to develop the long-awaited €2.4bn ($2.72bn) Saint-Brieuc wind farm after acquiring 100% ownership of Ailes Marines – the company developing, constructing and operating the project off the French coast. The move comes after the French ministry of economy granted Iberdrola, which previously owned 70% of the consortium’s capital, the go-ahead to acquire the remaining 30% from its two partners, developer RES and finance group Caisse des Depots et Consignations.“The Saint-Brieuc project is now ready to get started on construction. All agreements are in place, the funding is secured, and contracts are signed,” said Jonathan Cole, Iberdrola’s global managing director for offshore wind, who told Recharge the 496MW wind farm will begin operations in 2023.Located around 16km off the coast of Brittany, the wind farm will be equipped with 62 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines, installed in a 75 square km area. Siemens Gamesa signed agreements last December to build a new turbine and blades factory on a 36-hectare site in the port of Le Havre. The facility, scheduled to start construction in mid-2020 with commissioning at the end of 2021, will be used to supply the Saint-Brieuc, Dieppe-Le Treport, and Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind projects.Offshore construction work is scheduled to begin with the installation of foundation piles in 2021, and to be completed in 2023 with turbines installation and the project being made fully operational.[Christopher Hopson]More: Iberdrola to build $2.7bn Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm in France after taking full control Spain’s Iberdrola moving forward with $2.7 billion, 496MW wind farm off the French coastlast_img read more

CBM extension needed to avoid litigation during recovery

first_img continue reading » CUNA supports bipartisan Senate efforts to extend the Covered Business Method (CBM) review program at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), it wrote to Sens. David Perdue (R-Ga.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) Tuesday. The Senators support efforts to extend the CBM program, which is scheduled to expire Sept. 15.The CBM program was created by Congress in 2012 (part of the American Invents Act (AIA)) to help cut back on a large increase in business method patent litigation driven largely by Non-Practicing Entities asserting low-quality business method patents. The program allows the USPTO to review whether the patent in question should have been granted in the first place.“The program has been working. A recent study by the Perryman Group found the AIA and its collective review programs have ‘saved U.S. jobs and helped drive substantial economic gains over the past decade’ including an estimated $2.95 billion in GDP growth between 2014-2019,’” the letter reads. “Compared to other court proceedings, the USPTO provides a process which takes less time to reach a decision, costs less to use and operate, and leverages a pool of over 200 judges with specialized patent experience.”The letter also cites recent data referenced by the Government Accountability Office that some patent owners are waiting for the CBM to expire to assert patents. SOE Ministry slashes Pertamina’s board of directors to refocus business

first_imgThe government has cut the board of directors of state-owned oil and gas giant Pertamina from 11 positions to six, a leaked document shows, in a continued campaign to slim down national enterprises.State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir confirmed the move, saying the restructuring was aimed at refocusing the board’s role to focus on corporate management affairs such as finance and human capital, instead of operations.“The overall plan has been consistent. We want all SOEs to focus on their core businesses,” Erick said during a press conference on Friday. The restructuring, he continued, was expected to improve Pertamina’s business performance, which he said could be measured through, among other indicators, increased upstream oil and gas production and lower fuel distribution costs.Nicke Widyawati, Emma Sri Martini and Koeshartanto retained their positions as president director, finance director and human capital director, respectively. The former logistics, supply chain and infrastructure director, Mulyono, and asset management director M. Haryo Yunianto were appointed as the integrated logistics and infrastructure director and corporate services director, respectively. The remaining director positions for upstream operations, refining, corporate marketing, retail marketing, petrochemical, megaprojects, investment and risk management have been scrapped.Iman Rachman, the former president director of state asset management firm PT Perusahaan Pengelola Aset (PPA), is the only newcomer to Pertamina’s board of directors. Iman has experience in listed companies, Erick said. The board of commissioners, which includes former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, remains unchanged, according to the document.Pertamina is the latest in a series of SOEs to have its board of directors restructured to improve efficiency at the behest of the ministry. Last month, the SOE Ministry restructured 14 national plantation firms to consolidate PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (PTPN) as the holding company of the firms. Similar to Pertamina’s restructuring, PTPN III will focus on corporate management while its subsidiaries will focus on producing various crops, such as palm oil, natural rubber and cocoa. Erick said that, going forward, Pertamina’s subsidiaries would also be grouped into specialized subholdings. He also expects two subholdings to be listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) within the next two years.“There will be one for upstream, one for marketing and there’s already PGN for gas,” he said, referring to publicly-listed gas distributor PGN, which became the subholding company for all national gas-related firms under Pertamina in late 2018.Pertamina owns dozens more subsidiaries that operate all along the domestic oil and gas supply chain, including in exploration, refining, distribution and retail. Pertamina even has a subsidiary in property, PT Patra Jasa, and health care, PT Pertamina Bina Medika IHC.The company expects the new structure to make it more “agile” and “focused” in order to develop “world class capabilities” to become a global-scale energy company with market a value of US$100 billion.“With the [restructuring], Pertamina’s role as a holding will be directed into portfolio management and facilitating business synergy among all units under Pertamina Group, speeding up new business development and executing national programs,” reads a statement from the company published on Friday.“Meanwhile, subholding companies will perform the role of supporting operational excellence by developing their respective scales and synergy, speeding up business development and increasing their capabilities and flexibility in partnerships and funding.”Pertamina president director Nicke Widyawati said in April that the company would liquidate and divest its stakes in 25 direct and indirect subsidiaries to focus more on its core business.“We plan to liquidate and divest our stakes in eight subsidiaries this year and the rest next year,” she said, adding that many of the subsidiaries were no longer operational.Topics :last_img read more

first_imgLondon 2012 gold medallist Mariya Savinova has been stripped of her 800m title and banned until 2019.The Russian has had all her results from July 2010 to August 2013 annulled after being found guilty of doping.Savinova beat South Africa’s Caster Semenya into second at the London Olympics and the 2011 Worlds in Daegu. The 31-year-old also beat Britain’s Jenny Meadows into to bronze at the 2010 Europeans. Both athletes could now have their medals upgraded.Savinova will also lose her 800m gold from the 2011 World Championships and the European Championships in 2010.And she will forfeit a World Championship silver from 2013 and will be suspended for four years, backdated to 2015. A Court of Arbitration for Sport statement read: “On the basis of clear evidence, including the evidence derived from her biological passport (ABP), Mariya Savinova is found to have been engaged in using doping from 26 July 2010 (the eve of the European Championship in Barcelona) through to 19 August 2013 (the day after the World Championship in Moscow).”As a consequence, a four-year period of ineligibility, beginning on 24 August 2015, has been imposed and all results achieved between 26 July 2010 and 19 August 2013, are disqualified and any prizes, medals, prize and appearance money forfeited.”The backgroundSavinova was one of five Russian athletes named in a World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) report into doping. She has not raced since 2013 after being suspended during an investigation sparked by the release of undercover footage filmed by whistleblower Yuliya Stepanova.Should the International Olympic Committee decide to reallocate the medals from the London 2012 final, Semenya would be awarded a second gold after she claimed the 800m title in Rio last summer. Additional alternate black jerseys will be introduced at a later date. The primary logo retains the red, white and blue colors of the past logo and adds black “to provide a modern edge,” the team announced. The curved lines in the primary Clippers wordmark symbolize the horizon of the ocean as seen from the bridge of a Clipper ship, alluding to the team’s nautical theme roots, which began when it moved to San Diego in 1978 from Buffalo, New York. LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Clippers will have owner Steve Ballmer, coach Doc Rivers and present and past players distribute T-shirts with the team’s new look at 32 locations today.Ballmer will be giving away T-shirts and cupcakes at Sprinkles Cupcakes in downtown Los Angeles from 10-10:45 a.m.Rivers will buy lunch for fans from noon-1 p.m at Pink’s Hot Dog in Hollywood, where T-shirts will be given away from noon-2 p.m. Ralph Lawler, the team’s longtime play-by-play announcer, will also be at Pink’s from noon-1 p.m.Other locations where T-shirts will be given away include Universal Studios (8 a.m.-1 p.m.) and the Santa Monica Pier (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) The silver lining in the wordmark signifies the renewed collective optimism of the fans of the team which has never advanced to a conference final in its 45-season history, but reached the conference semifinals each of the past two seasons. The team’s new LAC monogram depicts a blue “C” wrapping around the “L.A.” intended to depict embracing the city, a team official said. The stacked LA also takes the shape of a basketball court signifying “LA Basketball.” The new uniforms and logo were unveiled by Ballmer in an appearance on the TBS late-night talk show “Conan.”“We have introduced a new look that is bold, edgy, powerful and truly representative of us turning the page and entering a brand new age,” Ballmer said.Ballmer purchased the team last year for $2 billion from the Sterling Family Trust after the release of secretly recorded conversations involving Sterling and companion V. LIVE: Uganda out to prove it is not all about Mane

first_imgStanding in Mane’s way is the continent’s best goalkeeper, Denis Onyango. Senegalese Mane and Ugandan Onyango were included in the 2018 African team of the year chosen by a Confederation of African Football (CAF) panel. They are also Champions League winners — Mane with Liverpool in Europe last season and Onyango with South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in Africa three years ago.Veteran Onyango has conceded three goals in three matches with another Liverpool star, Egyptian Mohamed Salah, among those who have scored against him.He however leads a team still rocking from a strike over bonuses. Onyango told the pre-match conference he is ready for the tie, but the toll of a full day in which the team was diverted in negotiations with soccer governing body FUFA over bonuses could show in this game. The stalemate was only resolved when FUFA offered a $6000 per player bonus for making it to the group of 16.Uganda last reached the knockout stage of AFCON 41 years ago, at Ghana 1978.“Uganda Cranes is not afraid of anyone. We shall enjoy the moment and take on Senegal. The most important thing is the game ahead of us. What happened before, we call it past. We have re-opened the engine once again,” Onyango said.Senegal may top the African rankings, 58 places above Uganda, but coach Aliou Cisse has warned his star-stacked side against over-confidence.“No one should take Uganda for granted and eliminating them will not be easy,” warned Cisse, one of the stars of the Teranga Lions team that reached the 2002 World Cup quarter-finals.Mane echoed his coach, saying: “We saw the kind of football they played against Egypt. They are a good side and we will need to be at our best to beat them.”Uganda had Egypt on the rack for more than half an hour before Salah scored and were equally impressive in the second half without being able to convert chances into goals.“We have reached the second round, which was the minimum target set for us by the national federation, and anything can happen in knockout matches,” said coach Sebastien Desabre.
