She had earlier represented the Awadhe Warriors for the past three editions.Sindhu, the Rio Olympics silver medallist, will feature for the Hyderabad franchise after the defending champions picked her up for Rs 80 lakh, while Rio gold medallist Carolina Marin of Spain also went for the same price to Pune. World No.9 Sung Ji Hyun was snapped up by Chennai Smashers, also for Rs 80 lakh.Among the big names in men’s badminton, former World No.1 Victor Axelsen of Denmark was picked up by Ahmedabad Smash Masters for Rs 80 lakh, while World No.6 Kidambi Srikanth joined Bengaluru Raptor for the same amount.H.S. Prannoy was bought by Delhi Dashers after a bidding war with Mumbai Rockets for Rs 80 lakh, while South Korea’s Sung Ji Hyun and Lee Yong Dae also went for the same amount to Chennai Smashers and Mumbai, respectively.The Awadh Warriors spent Rs 70 lakh to bag the services of South Korean Son Wan Ho while Pune bought Denmark’s Mathias Boe for Rs 50 lakh.Teenaged sensation Lakshya Sen was bought by Pune for Rs 11 lakh while another youngster Satwiksairaj Rankireddy went for a whopping Rs 52 lakh to the Ahmedabad Smash Masters. CONFIRMED: West Brom’s Brunt to miss Euro 2016 with serious knee injury

first_imgNorthern Ireland midfielder Chris Brunt has been ruled out of Euro 2016 after suffering a serious knee injury.The West Brom star was stretchered off during his side’s win over Crystal Palace last weekend following an innocuous challenge from Wilfried Zaha.Scans showed he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and he underwent surgery to repair the damage on Thursday, Brunt is now facing six months on the sidelines, meaning he will miss this summer’s European Championship – Northern Ireland’s first major tournament in 30 years.West Brom boss Tony Pulis told the club’s official site: “It’s a big blow for Chris and everyone is feeling for him right now.“It will be disappointing for us not to have him for the rest of the season because he is a terrific player who gives the team great balance.“But obviously it is made even more cruel because it has denied him a career highlight with Northern Ireland this summer.”Brunt, who had his surgery in Lyon, has 54 caps for Northern Ireland and will miss their games against Poland, Ukraine and Germany in France.He is Albion’s longest serving current player and has made 314 appearances for The Hawthorns club.He was involved in ugly scenes last month after being struck by a coin allegedly thrown by a West Brom fan following 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Reading.Brunt had approached the away end to throw his shirt into the crowd only to be hit in the face.Police, who have made an arrest, are treating the incident as assault. 1 Chris Brunt lies stricken after suffering knee ligament damage playing for West Brom last_img read more
