COUNCIL ASKED TO BROKER PARK AND RIDE DEAL FOR BUS PASSENGERS

first_imgLetterkenny Town Council and Bus Eireann are to examine a park and ride facility for people travelling to Dublin Airport from Donegal.Hundreds of commuters are now using the express bus journey to the capital. But commuters cannot park their vehicles at the Letterkenny station as the parking facilities belong to supermarket giant Tesco. With a clamping system in progress, motorists parking for any length of time face paying hefty fines.A deputation from Bus Eireann last night put their case to a meeting of the local council. It was suggested Bus Eireann could strike a deal with Tesco for park and ride spaces but this was ruled out in the current economic climate. It was agreed that the council would examine the need for park and ride facilities again and would hold another meeting on the matter. On a related issue, Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh raised the issue of having to pay to use the toilets at the bus station. He said one disabled woman he knew did not know she needed to pay and had to ask someone for money to use the toilets which she found very embarrassing. He was told the measure was to curb anti-social behaviour in the bus station. However Cllr Kavanagh said there must be other ways of stopping anti-social behaviour rather than charging people to go to the toilet. COUNCIL ASKED TO BROKER PARK AND RIDE DEAL FOR BUS PASSENGERS was last modified: March 6th, 2012 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:bus eireannCllr Jimmy Kavanaghlast_img read more
